Yes, I have tried cutting my own hair! And believe me when I say that it was a learning experience.
I had heard of people trying to cut their own hair before but had never attempted it myself, so with a bit of trepidation and excitement I decided to give it a go. To make sure I didn’t ruin my locks, I started off by just trimming the very ends. This ended up being surprisingly successful! When compared with how most salon haircuts look immediately after they are done- where you may not like the style at first or see little mistakes -my home trim actually turned out quite good!
Because of this initial success, I then proceeded to try and shape up some bangs (or fringes as they’re called in some countries). Now this is definitely where things got tricky. It took several attempts over weeks (yes WEEKS) for me to get something that resembled what hairstylists do routinely in minutes. A lot of trial and error went into the process before finally deciding on an acceptable result for my bangs.
The lesson here? Doing your own haircut takes a lot more patience than expected and probably is best left to professionals who know what they’re doing because even small details can have large consequences such as taking far too much off resulting in awkward gaps or unevenness. That said, if you feel brave enough and patient enough then sure go ahead; remember start gradually with small trims or minor adjustments until you build the confidence needed for bigger projects like fringes/bangs. Good luck!
